Martha Braddock
Policy Advisor
Martha
is policy advisor
for
the International Association of Emergency Managers. She develops and
implements strategies
for
the association to engage Congress, partner organizations, and federal
departments and agencies on key issues. Her expertise includes developing key
appropriations and authorization contacts so that the association’s voice is
heard on crucial issues. In addition, Martha is a consultant to colleges and
universities, associations, and corporations on a wide range of homeland
security, emergency management, mitigation and legislative matters. One of the
major benefits to IAEM that Martha provides is a strong voice of advocacy to
ensure that IAEM is appropriately included in key government meetings, hearings,
and work groups. She is the organization’s watchdog to the federal bureaucracy
to ensure inclusion in all decision making scenarios. Martha served fifteen
years in senior management positions
for
three different Administrations at the Federal Emergency Management Agency
headquarters, including Director of Congressional and Legislative Affairs and
Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. Her Congressional experience includes
serving on the staff of a senior member of the House of Representatives, the
staff of a Joint Congressional Committee, and as a professional staff member of
the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. She staffed the
committee which held the hearings and wrote the bill which led to the
for
mation of FEMA in 1979. Martha holds a B.A. in English and History from Texas A
& M and an M.A. in English from the
University

Illinois
