Kate Walker
Program Manager, Certification Administrator

Kate Walker is ASMI’s certification administrator charged with managing the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Certified Emergency Manager (CEMŽ) Program as well as serving as program manager for the Emergency Service Sector Coalition. She comes to ASMI with experience in association management, managing targeted, life-success programs for highly motivated students, where she was regional manager for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, Los Angeles/Washington D.C. As Certification Administrator, Kate manages the CEMŽ Program to ensure ongoing operational success, including staff support to the CEMŽ Global and Council Commissions. She assists in developing and marketing the CEMŽ Program globally, and manages the administrative policies and procedures, governing documents, and legal matters. As Certification Administrator, Kate manages Commission nominations and the installation process, as well as maintaining CEMŽ examinations, coordinating the generation of new or revised test items. She manages CEMŽ examination prep course and exam, workshops, and webinars. Kate held previous positions as program manager, Congressional Youth Leadership Council; program coordinator-education; project coordinator-in office/development; and associate director of relationship marketing. Previously, she was a public affairs intern at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, Washington, D.C. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., where she graduated magna cum laude and received the 2004 CUA Media Studies Award for Excellence. Kate was a four-time finisher of the Marine Corps Marathon, Washington, D.C. She joined ASMI in 2011.
